Weber State football moves up in FCS polls after season-opening win

Weber State football is now ranked in both Football Championship Subdivision polls after its record-setting win to open the 2017 season.

The Wildcats moved up two spots to No. 20 in the FCS Coaches Poll following their 76-0 drubbing of Montana Western on Saturday.

WSU entered the STATS FCS Poll at No. 25 following the win that set school records for both points scored and margin of victory. The STATS poll is comprised of voters who are members of various schools’ and conferences’ athletics staffs throughout FCS.

Eastern Washington is ranked No. 6/7 in the two polls and North Dakota is No. 11 in both as other representatives from the Big Sky Conference.

Weber State finished the 2016 season ranked No. 24/25 in the two polls after appearing in the FCS Playoffs for the first time in seven years.

The Wildcats travel to play FBS member California at 3 p.m. MDT Saturday, Sept. 9, in a game televised on Pac-12 Network Bay Area.
