Utah State football blasts Idaho State to pick up 1st win

Utah State raced to a huge halftime lead and buried Idaho State 51-13 on Thursday night in Logan to pick up their first football win of the season.

Kent Myers threw a scorching 24 of 26 for 323 yards and two touchdowns, adding 85 yards on eight carries and two more touchdowns, to lead the Aggies to the win over the FCS foe.

After several scoring drives, Myers joined with defender Jalen Davis to pour on big plays to give USU a 38-6 lead at halftime.

Myers rushed for touchdowns of 23 and 36 yards in the second quarter. In between, Davis picked off a pass and returned it 25 yards for a score.

Eltoro Allen rushed 19 times for 103 yards and one touchdown to lead the Aggies’ ground attack.

Idaho State scored once in the second quarter and once in the third. The second score was a 42-yard pass from Tanner Gueller to Michael Dean.

Utah State outgained ISU 596-303.

Utah State next prepares to play at Wake Forest on Sept. 16.
