Basketball Roundup: Fremont comes back to beat Green Canyon

NORTH LOGAN — Fremont turned a 21-9 first-quarter deficit into a 60-55 win at Green Canyon on Friday.

Kyler Bush led the Silver Wolves in scoring with 16 points. Sophomore Dallin Hall had 14 points and Clint Anderson chipped in 12.

WOODS CROSS 69, SAN BERNARDINO-CA 67

LAS VEGAS — Woods Cross beat San Bernardino (California) in a tight contest at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.

Mason Cowley led the Wildcats with 21 points and Dax Gorringe added 18. Woods Cross trailed 40-28 at halftime before coming back for the win.

The Wildcats will face Desert Oasis (Nevada) in their final game at the tournament.

TIMPANOGOS 58, BOUNTIFUL 57

LAS VEGAS — Bountiful’s second-half comeback wasn’t enough to erase a halftime deficit in the Tarkanian Classic against Timpanogos.

Camron Chism led the Braves with 12 points and Isaac Kime added 11. Timpanogos won the game with a free throw with less than one second left.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 67, JUNEAU DOUGLAS-AK 40

LAS VEGAS — Layton Christian tallied a big win over Juneau-Douglas (Alaska) at the Tarkanian Classic.

Jesus Tomasi and Nicolas Alvarez led the Eagles with 13 points each, and Sam Muller added 10.

The Eagles will play their final game at the tournament Saturday when they face Basic (Nevada).

PINNACLE 62, ST. JOSEPH 58

DRAPER — Pinnacle outscored St. Joseph 19-14 in the fourth quarter to beat the Jayhawks in the APA Eagle Tournament Friday.

Riley Minnoch led St. Joseph with 17 points and A.J. Juarez added 13.

INTERMOUNTAIN CHRISTIAN 79, ST. JOSEPH 36

DRAPER — St. Joseph fell behind 30-14 at halftime in a loss to Intermountain Christian Friday at the APA Eagle Tournament. Harry Chen scored 13 points for the Jayhawks.

UTAH MILITARY 63, MOUNT VERNON 31

DRAPER — Utah Military Academy scored a big win against Mount Vernon at the APA Eagle Tournament in its first of two games Friday.

WEST WENDOVER 90, UTAH MILITARY 58

DRAPER — Utah Military suffered a loss against West Wendover Friday in the second of two games in the APA Eagle Tournament.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

THUNDERRIDGE-COLO. 70, MORGAN 40

PHOENIX — Morgan dropped its last game at the Nike Tournament of Champions. The Trojans trailed 49-24 at halftime.

Emery Wheeler and Ashlyn Morrell scored six points each to lead Morgan.
